How do I get started?

where do I start and how do I get better?

1 Get Started

Click the big blue “Get Started” button at the top of the page and send us a message with a quick intro of who you are and how we can help. We will reply to you as soon as possible with answers to your questions and will also send you an online questionnaire to complete.

2 Arrange a call

We will read your questionnaire and get in touch to arrange a free, no obligation call; or for you to come down to our British Weight Lifting affiliated facility for a chat about how we can help you.

3 Join a workshop

If you are an absolute beginner to the Snatch and Clean & Jerk, we recommend attending one of our beginner weightlifting workshops first. Click “here” to find out when our next workshops are running.

Alternatively if you are keen to start learning how to Snatch and Clean & Jerk as soon as possible, please click “ Get Started” to send us a message to find out if we have availability and book in a free no obligation chat with us.

4 Continue to improve

We have one to one coaching options available if you would like to refine your technique further. Then we have small group coaching sessions where you will become part of our weightlifting club and lift alongside others who are passionate about weightlifting! Weightlifting club members will have access to a general group training programme, whereas one to one clients will receive bespoke programming to the individual.

We also have club member/client exclusive gym memberships available if you would like to join Hull and East Riding’s only affiliated British Weightlifting Club with unlimited access.

Client Testimonials

Here’s what our wonderful clients are saying.

Carol & Lynne at olympic weightlifting competition with there coach Sam Young

Carol and Lynne met each other through training at Strong For Life in 2016, and have since become great friends.

They have both pushed each other to new levels of performance over the years, culminating in Carol winning multiple British Weightlifting Masters titles; and Lynne winning multiple silver medals at the same championships.

Carol and Lynne both qualified for the 2020 European Masters Weightlifting Championships in the Netherlands, which was unfortunately cancelled due to COVID-19.

The pair are members of our British Weightlifting affiliated club and train at our small group coaching sessions, which offer a great training atmosphere. They enjoy a laugh and the social side of these sessions, but also put in the hard work as reflected by their achievements in becoming two of the best lifters in their respective age and weight categories in Britain.

Chris and Dana Testimonial

Training at home for Dana and I throughout this pandemic has been so important. It provides structure and a sense of well being.

Sam’s weekly input via Skype has been invaluable. Even from a distance over the internet he is able to pick up on areas that we can both improve on, but most importantly his support and guidance is very very welcome.
